Vodafone India has launched a new Wi-Fi network aimed at enterprise customers as it looks towards the corporate sector for further growth.

As the Indian mobile market becomes ever more competitive, Vodafone Group is taking aim at small, medium and large businesses with its Vodafone SuperWifi network – the first operator-led Wi-Fi network in India targeted specifically at enterprises. Aimed at increasing “business productivity, employee collaboration and process innovations”, SuperWifi will deliver high-speed unified Wi-Fi as a managed network service.

The entry of Reliance Jio into India’s mobile sector has instigated a price war among operators, with the debutante giving away voice and data for free as part of an extended promotion. Undeterred by the challenge, Vodafone has shored up its position in India, [announcing a merger with Idea Cellular that will make the combined entity the new market leader](https://developingtelecoms.com/business/operator-news/6985-vodafone-and-idea-merger-set-to-create-new-indian-market-leader.html) – if the deal receives regulatory approval.

However, Vodafone is evidently also looking to expand into the enterprise market to stave off any uncertainty. The group was quoted in the Economic Times as saying that its business unit was growing fast, accounting for 16.4% of Vodafone India’s H2 revenue for fiscal year 2017.

The SuperWifi launch comes hot on the heels of a similar announcement by Facebook, [which brought its Express Wi-Fi service to India last week as part of its internet.org initiative](https://developingtelecoms.com/tech/wireless-networks/7058-facebook-bringing-affordable-internet-access-to-india-with-express-wi-fi.html). The service focuses more on underserved regions and individual entrepreneurs rather than businesses.
