Under this contract, China Mobile will deploy home gateway units with Nokia's solution to over 30 million users during 2017. Using established fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks, the new gateway will extend internet coverage in the home and enable IoT communications between devices and sensors. The ability to flexibly add software functions and enhanced analytics capabilities will allow China Mobile to deploy and deliver a new intelligent home experience and associated services. Federico Guillén, president of Nokia's Fixed Networks Business Group, said: "Our home gateway solution provides China Mobile with the ultra-broadband access technology they need to capitalise on IoT and deliver new services that support their evolving customer needs.” Roland Montagne, principal analyst at IDATE, said: "China Mobile has proven it can successfully leverage its extensive fibre access network to deliver ultra-broadband applications such as 4K TV services and Gigabit access to customers across various provinces. With the addition of intelligent home gateway technology, China Mobile will be able to further differentiate its services, providing consumers with enhanced internet coverage in the home and a more seamless experience for connecting various devices and sensors." This contract extends a long-term fixed networks partnership between China Mobile and Nokia which also included the development of its GPON network for mobile backhaul. ## More Articles you may be Interested in... ```json { "@context": "http:\/\/schema.org", "@graph": [ { "@type": "Article", "author": { "@id": "https:\/\/essential-reading.com\/#james_barton_4d6427c012" }, "dateModified": "2017-06-12T13:45:13Z", "datePublished": "2017-06-12T13:45:13Z", "description": "Nokia and China Mobile are deploying millions of home gateways to provide residential customers across 29 different provinces in China with access to fibre-based ultra-broadband applications and intelligent home services.", "headline": "Nokia and China Mobile extend ultra-broadband access and intelligent home services across China", "image": [ { "@type": "ImageObject", "url": "https:\/\/developingtelecoms.com\/images\/stories\/Company_Logos\/ChinaMobile600.jpg", "caption": "", "description": "Nokia and China Mobile extend ultra-broadband access and intelligent home services across China", "width": 600, "height": 450 } ], "inLanguage": "en-GB", "mainEntityOfPage": { "@type": "WebPage", "url": "https:\/\/essential-reading.com\/telecom-technology\/optical-fixed-networks\/7129-nokia-and-china-mobile-extend-ultra-broadband-access-and-intelligent-home-services-across-china.html" }, "publisher": { "@id": "https:\/\/essential-reading.com\/#defaultPublisher" }, "url": "https:\/\/essential-reading.com\/telecom-technology\/optical-fixed-networks\/7129-nokia-and-china-mobile-extend-ultra-broadband-access-and-intelligent-home-services-across-china.html" }, { "@type": "Person", "name": "James Barton", "@id": "https:\/\/essential-reading.com\/#james_barton_4d6427c012" }, { "@id": "https:\/\/essential-reading.com\/#defaultPublisher", "@type": "Organization", "url": "https:\/\/essential-reading.com\/", "logo": { "@id": "https:\/\/essential-reading.com\/#defaultLogo" }, "name": "Developing Telecoms" }, { "@id": "https:\/\/essential-reading.com\/#defaultLogo", "@type": "ImageObject", "url": "https:\/\/developingtelecoms.com\/images\/stories\/highResLogos\/dt-site-logo-440.png", "width": "440", "height": "122" } ] } ```
