Subsea cable developments continue to make headlines, with two more news stories just announced, this time relating to Asia Direct Cable (ADC) and Trans Europe Asia System (TEAS).

ADC Consortium, the latest open submarine cable in the Asia-Pacific region, has selected Infinera’s ICE6 800G coherent solution on the GX Series Compact Modular Platform to power ADC’s advanced cable system.

Infinera, a global supplier of innovative open optical networking solutions and advanced optical semiconductors, says ICE6 will enable ADC Consortium members to address surging demand for submarine cable capacity in Asia.

By providing more than 21 Tb/s per fibre pair, Infinera’s ICE6 solution extends the commercial life of the fibre cable, maximizing the return on investment of this cable system.

ADC is a 9,400-kilometre submarine cable connecting China, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. ADC is built and operated by a global consortium comprising China Telecom, China Unicom, PLDT, National Telecom, Singtel, SoftBank Corp, Tata Communications and Viettel Group.

Meanwhile, Cinturion Corp has signed a mandate letter with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, for a proposed loan to support the construction and operation of TEAS, a subsea and terrestrial fibre-optic network, with an open-access core connecting Europe to Asia, with landing points across the Middle East and Africa.

[This follows last week’s news](https://developingtelecoms.com/telecom-technology/optical-fixed-networks/15511-cinturion-and-du-will-bring-teas-to-uae.html) that service provider du had announced a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cinturion, a global provider of scalable, subsea and terrestrial capacity-based network solutions, to land TEAS in the UAE.
